Had a fantastic day working with the Community Learning Partnerships team at New Oak Primary. We were delivering the second session of a Bloodhound SSC related programme. The children and their parents built rockets and launched them using a compressed air unit. Around 50m height achieved with a piece of A4 paper, a plastic nose cone and some card fins. Next week is the third session where they will build a car using K'Nex and attach the same rocket system but fire it across the hall. Can't wait to see them start designing and building their own solid rocket motor powered vehicles after that. Brilliant support from parents and the learning is first class. Pictures coming soon!

BloodhoundSSC - An engineering Adventure

Our Mission: To confront and overcome the impossible using science, technology, engineering and mathematics .To motivate the next generation to deal with global 21st century challenges.

The BLOODHOUND SSC engineering adventure provides us with a once in a lifetime opportunity to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers. To achieve this ambitious goal, the BLOODHOUND Education Programme will be made available to all pupils in primary and secondary schools, and to students in further and higher education. Nearly 4,000 schools have registered in the first 18 months of the project, plus numerous presentations have been given to other groups and professional institutions, taking the project into the heart of the community and society.

The BLOODHOUND SSC project is unique when compared to other ground breaking engineering ventures in that all the information about the research, design, build and testing of the car is available to teachers and students, and of course to anyone that wishes to visit the website.

The BBC have produced a number of excellent video clips featuring BLOODHOUND SSC. These clips can all be found in the BBC Learning Zone, but have been gathered together on this page. Just type Bloodhound in the search box.
