   When offered the opportunity to develop a mountain bike trail in the grounds of a school, what can you say but YES!! Woodstock school has beautiful woodland areas which become overgrown with brambles and nettles during the summer months which is when they need to be used the most. Creating a suitable track involved a considerable amount of vegetation clearance and the laying of a wood chip surface. The wood chips would help stop the ground being torn up or getting too muddy whilst also suppressing new plant growth. The children are delighted with their new resource. The path is also…
The Seeds for Change garden at Shirehampton Primary is looking fantastic at the moment and provides a lovely change to the weed infested patch that preceded it. As well as weeding and watering their planters, the children have also had the opportunity to participate in a range of other activities related to the project.
We had a great day planting the seeds for the ballast garden on Monday. All the Year 4 children participated enthusiastically. Many thanks to Naomi and Sarah from Bristol University for volunteering to helpwith the project and doing such a great job with the children. Lets hope the weather keeps improving and that everything starts growing quickly. I had a lovely comment from one of the girls who said  "looking at the boats had made me feel happier when I came in to school feeling sad".
